How old do you have to be to purchase/carry stun gun?
I am only a minor i was only thinking of buying a 100,000 volt compact stun gun but i do not want to go to a store and then a worker call the police on me for trying to purchase a stun gun
The first question you need to answer is "Are stun guns legal where I live?". You can find out more here: http://www.ledefensetech.com/stungunlaws.htm. Even if they are legal, you'd have to have an adult buy one for you. I wouldn't sell and most stores wouldn't sell to a minor without some sort of parental consent. For the most part, in places where stun guns are restricted, minors cannot use them. If you're in a place where they are legal, then you probably should check with a local lawyer or the police to see if there are any laws in your city about the use of stun guns. Plus it's never a bad idea to introduce yourself to the local cops and get on their good side.
If they are not legal, you might try pepper spray. While there are some restrictions there: http://www.ledefensetech.com/pepperspraylaws.htm, for the most part they are much less restrictive than stun guns and minors are encouraged to carry pepper spray for personal protection.
One thing to keep in mind is the use of these items are considered assault if you don't use them to protect yourself, someone else or your property. That also means you can't use it because you're mad or playing a joke or something like that. Carrying is a privilege, and those can be taken away.

Facts About Stun Guns
Stun guns are quite different than bb guns or Paintball Guns. Also referred to as Taser guns, stun guns administer an electrical shock of 50,000 volts. It’s enough to completely disrupt one’s muscle control and disable a person completely. The safety of the use of this weapon has a lot to do with the health of the individual who is stunned. Not really open to the general public, stun guns are primarily used by law enforcement officers, private security, and military personnel. However, some U.S. states permit civilian use with certain restrictions.
For concealment purposes, a stun gun varies in size and shape all across the board. The way a stun gun works is through battery-powered air. An air stun gun uses compressed air to discharge electrical darts that are attached to a wire. This emits a five-second, 50,000-volt charge which can strike one from a distance of up to 21 feet. Most of the time stun guns are used in a riot situation but are very common in jails and correctional facilities as well.
From the years 2003 to 2007 British police offers used stun guns in over 800 incidents throughout the United Kingdom. This occurred even though they were authorized to use firearms. Since September of 2007, British police officers who do not carry a firearm are now permitted to carry stun guns. In 1976, the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms categorized the Taser stun gun as a firearm. Soon after, private companies began marketing this tool as a self-defense weapon. When marketing to single, at-risk women stun guns are often times stylized to be compact and offered in a range of colors.
According to Amnesty International, from 2001 to 2006, there was an estimated 160 deaths due to being electrically charged from a stun gun. Because of facts such as this stun guns are illegal in the following states: Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, Rhode Island and Illinois. Stun gun possession is legal with some restrictions in Ohio, Washington, North Carolina, Florida, and Connecticut.
