Accuracy International Arctic War

History
The original design
Accuracy International PM (marksman) rifle was entered into a British competition in the 1980s to replace the Lee-Enfield sniper rifles from now in use by the army UK (for example, L42A1). The Accuracy International rifle Agency has been selected by the Parker Hale M85. The British Army has adopted Accuracy International PM into service in 1982 that the L96A1 and equipped with Schmidt & Bender 6x42 scopes. In this configuration, the gun is able to access a first cold snap, hot, dirty barrel. Tests 10.89 g (168 gr) ammunition provided at 0.5 MOA groups of ten hits 91 m (100 yards) and the gun was supplied with a telescopic sight, bipod, five magazines, sling, cleaning kit and roll the tool box mounted in a book.
design evolution
A few Years later, the Swedish military were also looking for a new rifle, and Accuracy International has entered into an updated version of PM, now known as AW or war in the Arctic. This was the beginning of the war name of the Arctic, which will become the name in spite of its main Previous names rifle.
The rifle now have special characteristics of the merger to enable it to be used effectively to temperatures as low as 40 ° C (40.0 F). The Stockhol, bolt, magazine release and trigger lock on the AW are large enough for Easy to use with heavy gloves of the Arctic. This version has been accepted in use by the Swedish army in 1991 Prickskyttegevr 90 (Psg 90).
PM Change of origin or the British Army L96A1 decide to order the "improved" version and AW appointed L118A1. The rifles were fitted with Schmidt & Bender PM II telescopic 31,250 sites provides the operator greater flexibility to shoot different distances, or in situations where a wide field of vision needed. This rifle has been in service in recent conflicts such as Operation Granby and Operation Telic.
Family fire systems
Since then he has presented a family of sniper rifles, as the Arctic war, and was adopted by a number of other countries, including Australia, Belgium, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Latvia, Malaysia, Norway, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. Other AI decreased from L96A1 rifles include EI AI, AI and AS50 (See variations below).
Most of the guns of war in the Arctic are chambered for the cartridge 7.62x51 mm NATO, but can also be equipped with other cartridges. It is equipped with a muzzle brake to reduce recoil, jump and flash.
guns of each country differs slightly. The Swedish Psg 90 For example, use a Hensoldt (Zeiss) wide and towers can also use shoe. In 1998, the German army adopted the first version of Magnum-point bending of AW Camera 0300 Winchester Magnum (7.62x67 mm) and with optics made by the German company Zeiss as Scharfschtzengewehr 22 (G22).
The WA is unique full capacity and reliability of parts for exchange bad weather became a popular, if expensive, weapon. The rifle has a good accuracy (a shooter can expect to 0.5 MOA accuracy with ammunition adjusted where necessary), and its maximum effective range with a Schmidt & Bender Scope PM II 642 is about 800 meters (870 yards).
Arctic Warfare family is the main commercial competitor or equivalent in the high end factory sniper rifle market Sako TRG is the range of products, which is the rational capacity, usually at par with the system Arctic war, but a little cheaper.
design details
G22 of the Bundeswehr with a AICS 2.0 stock.
The AW system is almost unique to be a sniper rifle designed with a purpose rather than an existing version of a accurised rifle, commonly used.
The modular design allows AW flexibility, service and repair capacity in the field and wrestling. The main components of a weapon the barrel and cylinder head can be changed between weapons or replaced in the field by your operator with the help of some tools. The room can also be activated by the operator, provided that the guns, bolts feeding mechanism and can handle different cartridges dimensionwise.
Features
Instead of a rifle butt traditional wooden or polymer AW is based on an aluminum frame that extends to the whole population. This frame system is marketed under the system's accuracy international chassis (AICS) and can be used for all sniper rifles International. All other components, including the receiver, are bolted directly onto the chassis. Two hollow polymer "half stocks thumbhole panels, usually green, are in turn bolted to the chassis, creating a remarkably robust, but relatively light for their strength weapons.
Receiver Accuracy International is bolted with 4 screws and epoxy material definitively linked to the aluminum frame was designed for robustness, simplicity and ease of use. To this end, the thick-walled, flat-bottomed, flat-sided receiver is a fact underlined to the local computer from a single block AI forged steel. AW rifles are available in two sizes lengthstandard AW (short) and SM long (magnum). The six-pin terminals, which are arranged in two rows each of three ears, hire a heat-treated steel ring insert cover jammed in the bridge in front of the action. The ring can be removed and replaced for cooling control the free space on the old stocks. System AW Bolt molten steel has a 0.75 inch (19 mm) in combination with discharge holes in a 0.785 in (19.9 mm) and body forward measures to canal bridge bolt discharge of high pressure gas in the hypothetical case head failure of a car. Against ingress of water or dirt the cylinder head has connectors white, which also prevent freezing or the occurrence of other disturbances. Unlike conventional bolt-action rifles, lever receiver is folded back, thus facilitating the rehearsal process for the operator and reduces the contours of the weapon. Roosters Action on the opening with a short 60 degree bolt throw and has a non-rotating (fixed) external extractor and ejection procedure. Cook Travel 0.26 is on the pin (6.6 mm) to maintain the blocking time to a minimum. Finally, a train of 11 mm (0.43 in) dovetail integral over the receiver is designed to accommodate a number of different types of optical sights or electro-optics. An optional MIL-STD-1913 rail (Picatinny Rail) can be permanently covered, bonded and bolted to the action that provides a standard interface for many optical systems.
Barrel
The floating, heavy, stainless steel barrels (Barrels stainless steel resistant to erosion than the normal throat barrels) for the cartridge chamberings available have a different length, slot cutting and rifling twist rate optimized for their respective chambers and ammunition. For 0243 Winchester chambering twist rate barrels is 254 mm (1 / 10 in) and the 0308 NATO chambering rate variations Winchester/7.62x51mm Twist barrel is 305 mm (1-12) except for the barrel variant deleted. If the requirement precision compatible an operator no longer meets the barrel can easily be renewed. It is normal practice for precision high performance operators active gun barrels as they consider expendable items.
Security
A firing pin block three position lever Security lock bolt can be treated with the safety engaged. If the weapon is disassembled, the touch of the attacker at the end of the bolt, which helps you feel if the weapon is ready to fire or in poor visibility. gun safety is also located aft. It has two brands of colors: white pointafety, pointafety dark red.
Trigger
The mechanism of activation in two phase shows an adjustable trigger pull weight of 1-2 kg (2.2 to 4.4 pounds). The trigger can be easily removed for cleaning by loosening two screws socket head.
Ammunition Supply
Are fed to the bottom of the receiver with a removable, double column box magazine steel. Winchester Rifles Magnum 300 cameras in the future use of a magazine in a row.
AICS (Accuracy International Chassis System)
U.S. Navy Mk.13 MOD 5 SWS with a AICS 2.0 stock and a receiver based Remington 700.
Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) can be configured for different actions (all Accuracy International and Remington 700 receivers), triggers and other objects. AICS version for Remington 700 receiver was introduced in 1999. The basic version is 1.0 AICS with a stationary play. The AICS 1.5 sports a variant of the adjustable chin strap. The 2.0 is a AICS stock rifles folding which reduces the overall length of 210 mm (8.3 in) in the folded position and add 0.2 kg (0.44 lbs) total weight of the artillery. The AICS 2.0 also jugular adjustment that adjusts the left / right and height for the optimal position of the cheek when using night vision equipment or glasses covered with large objective lenses. Also there is a quick adjustment jugular jugular option has a spring under the butt of a quick adjustment.
AICS side "panels" are high-strength polymer and are available in earth tones of olive gray, or black.
attachment points are flange mounted on each side of rifle, it can be carried flat against the back and used easily by left and right. A front attachment point is lower than the front and can be used to anchor a destination-style scarf or be replaced by a Harris bipod adapter.
Accessories
The AW is generally equipped with an integrated bipod and also has a monopod mounted on the cylinder head.
Precision accessories for the international war of the Arctic includes a selection of sites PM Series II telescopic made by Schmidt & Bender laser filters for military areas, the sight of a single piece aluminum telescopic mounting kits, MIL-STD-1913 rail (Picatinny Rail), umbrellas, various optical filters and flash to kill and covered the lenses of telescopic sights, auxiliary iron sights for emergency use cleaning kits, brakes mouth / Flash-Hiders and silent (noise suppressor), butt plates and spacers to adjust the rear of the rifle to the shooter's height and angle for comfort and duration traction, buttspikes, bipod (adapters), handstops, mirage band, the case of smooth traffic and high strength and various maintenance tools.

PM (shooting accuracy)
The gun that was developed Arctic Warfare family. In this original form is entered service in the United Kingdom in mid-1980 with the designation L96A1 (7.6251 mm cameras NATO).
AW (War of the Arctic)
Although the "improved" version L96A1 (always chambered to 7.6251 mm NATO). The name is derived from features specifically designed to allow operation in extreme climates cold.
Approval of the following:
L118A1: British military version
Psg 90: the version in the Swedish military service. Psg is short Prickskyttegevr (Sniper Rifle).
SR-98 military version and the Police Service of Australia (with a folding stock.)
According Brochure Accuracy International AW AW is available 7.62x51mm NATO in 0243 and chamberings Winchester, but especially chamberings another application to work in the lock can be fitted AW.
ASF (Folding war Arctic)
model AW with a side folding polymer material.
Annual Work Plan (War of the police The Arctic)
The AWP is a version for use by law enforcement rather than military, off AWP for Arctic Warfare Police. The most notable features is that the framework is the black mark, not a light green. It also has a short-24 (610 mm) per barrel compared to the model AW. The AWP is generally cameras 7.62 mm or .243 Winchester Ammunition Winchester NATO/.308 although it can be calibrated for other cartridges. The annual work plan should not be confused with International AW AE precision, which also has a black finish, but it is a cheaper version of the AW series nonmilitary.
AWS (War of the Arctic Cancelled)
The AWS is designed specifically for use with subsonic ammunition, depending on destination, gives a maximum effective range of 300 meters (330 yards). Their noise levels are similar to those generated by 0.22 match LR ammunition. The gun is equipped with a special 0308 special NATO Winchester/7.62x51mm 406 mm (16 inches) long gun which has a speed of 229 mm (1-9 inches) and an integral suppressor. AWS combination suppressor gun has a total length of 711 mm (28 inches), which maintains the length Total weapons within normal limits. The user can remove the combination surge suppressor barrel and replace it with a rule or canon AW AWP in three minutes. As with all these systems, the hearing will be reset after a change cannon.
AWC (Arctic Warfare Covert)
The system is essentially an AWS Covert folding stock with a 305 mm (12 inches) long barrel combination with a suppressor 203 mm (1-8 in) twist rate. It comes in a briefcase that holds the gun with the stock folded and barrel combination suppressor independent. Bag polymer is lined with closed cell foam with cutouts of the population / Action / bipod combination Optics /, bolt, suppressor, a magazine and a box of ammunition. Although the compact size of the system is considerably less than a Covert traditional system, the barrel of special weapons and the full suppression to keep the total length in the normal range when deployed.
It is particularly used for the first USSOCOM Sfodera-D (Delta Force) and the British SAS 22.
MN (Magnum Arctic warfare)
The (MN) (Magnum) is chambered for more time, more powerful Magnum 0300 Winchester Magnum specifically. Has been adopted by several armies:
G22 (Gewehr 22 or Scharfschtzengewehr 22) by the German army, with a stock folding and is chambered for the 0300 Winchester Magnum round (designated 7.62x67 mm).
Awsm (Magnum Arctic warfare Super)

Appellations L115A3 L115A1 and 'upgrade', United Kingdom awsm calibrated to 338 Lapua Magnum.
AW50 (Arctic Warfare .50)
The AW50 was introduced in 2000 and is a gun AW redesigned and cameras to .50 BMG (12.7x99 mm NATO).
G24 (Gewehr Scharfschtzengewehr 24 or 24): the designation of German army AW50.
AW50F (Arctic Warfare 0.50 Folding Stock)
AW50F The AW50 is a variant adopted by the Australian Army. It differs from the level AW50 which is equipped with a folding stock (hence the F) and the ACPC barrel.
AS50 (caliber semi-automatic Arctic 50)
The Accuracy International AS50 was developed in 2007 and is a semi-automatic .50 caliber BMG rifle developed jointly by Amnesty International and NSWC-Crane (Naval Surface Warfare Center) primarily for the U.S. Navy SEALs.
AE / AE MkII implementation of precision ()
The Accuracy International AE was introduced in 2001 as a cheap, somewhat simplified version of the series low L96/AW for law enforcement. Not confused with the more expensive models AW AWP or intended for military use. AE-lock action differs from most AW design more angular. The receiver is lighter Round AE compared to models AW. The EC action is not definitively linked epoxy material for aluminum chassis and can be deleted. Unlike models AW, EI can be ordered in a configuration for southpaws. EI is installed in 7.6251 mm caliber NATO and the barrel is 610 mm (24 inches) long. In 2009, AE has been updated, and from this position of AW MkII. The system uses EA MkII 5 AICS rifle and magazines Round of 10 and has a removable trigger group, a screw adjustable chin strap. An optional barrel of 508 mm (20.0 inches) with a muzzle brake or tactical assembly lines suppressor and a folding frame available.
